Flagging this one less as a thing to attend and more as a thing to route around. All Things Open 2026 lands at the Raleigh Convention Center on South Salisbury in late October, and it pulls thousands of people downtown for several days of open source talks and keynotes.

I have a standing dentist appointment off Salisbury and I have learned the hard way to move it during convention week. Hotel rates go up, the decks fill by 8:30, and the lunch spots in that stretch have lines out the door.

If you are actually in tech, this is a good one and it is right here. Exact dates and registration are on the listings page.

I went two years ago and the hallway conversations were better than half the sessions, which is the usual story with conferences. Worth it if your employer covers it.

Convention week is also the week short term rental pricing downtown goes silly. If you own one, set your rates now rather than in October.

the fee is the point

The upside for the rest of us is the greenway and Dix are dead quiet while everybody is inside a ballroom. Best running week of the month.

check the gauge

Naive question, is any of it open to the public without a badge? I work adjacent to this stuff but not in it.

closing soon, maybe

Some evening meetups around it are usually free and separately listed, but the sessions themselves need a badge. Check the official schedule closer to the date rather than trusting me.
