The self guided Capital City Mystery walk starting at Nash Square

We did the Raleigh Capital City Mystery this weekend with the in laws visiting from out of state. It runs daily, you do it on your own schedule, and it starts around Nash Square at 200 S McDowell.

It is basically a walking scavenger hunt on your phone through downtown. Took us a bit over two hours with a lot of stopping. Good way to show visitors downtown without just driving them past things. Do it in the morning, doing it at two in the afternoon in August would be rough.

Nice tip. I have walked past Nash Square a hundred times and never thought about it as a starting point for anything.

Morning is right. Anything downtown on foot after noon in August is a bad idea unless you like sweating through a shirt.

Would this work with a five year old or is there too much reading?

A five year old would need an adult driving the phone, but they would enjoy the looking for things part. Two hours might be a stretch, you can stop whenever.

still learning the clay

Filing this away for when my sister visits. Beats another trip to the same three restaurants.
