Image uploads failing in DIY section

Cassidy Wren @closingcostcass · Downtown RaleighApr 8, 2026, 7:27 AM

Hey everyone, I am trying to post a picture of this strange pipe setup I found behind the drywall in my Southeast Raleigh house, but the uploader keeps throwing a red error box. It says the file is too large or invalid. I took it on my phone. Is there a trick to formatting these? I want to make sure I am not breaking the forum rules, or my plumbing. Thanks!

Same thing happened to me last week. I had to resize it on my phone first.

Finn, the forum server has a pretty strict size limit on direct uploads, probably to keep the hosting costs reasonable for the neighborhood association. If you scale it down to under two megabytes, it should go through. I usually have to do that when posting photos of original trim comparisons or salvage yard finds.

I had the same issue when I was trying to post plans for my chicken run expansion last spring. I ended up using a free hosting site and pasting the link instead. It is much easier than trying to shrink the files when your hands are covered in chicken feed and sawdust.

At least you only broke the uploader. I tried to upload my roof assessment and crashed my browser.

Try the mobile app. It auto-resizes.
