We did this two Octobers ago and it holds up. The Original Raleigh Ghost Walk departs from the State Capitol on East Edenton, Friday October 2 at 10:00 and repeating weekly through the month.

Lantern lit walking tour, mostly real history with the creepy parts left in. You cover a decent amount of downtown on foot, so wear something you can walk a couple miles in.

One practical note, the sidewalks around the Capitol grounds are uneven brick and it is dark. If someone in your group is unsteady, this may not be the one.

The guide we had knew the Capitol grounds plantings better than some horticulture people I know, which was not what I expected from a ghost tour. Lovely evening.

A 10 pm start is late for us but October nights downtown are perfect for walking. Bring a layer, it drops fast once the sun is gone.

Took out of town family on this last fall and they still talk about it. Good answer for the relatives who want to see something other than your kitchen renovation.

Uneven brick warning is real. Flat shoes.

This was how I finally learned the downtown street grid. Two hours of walking beat six months of driving it.
